Joe has decided to retire at the end of February. In going back to work he has discovered that he is happiest when he can control his work environment. While the money was decent and has helped to increase his budget for his home machine shop, the corporate environment is not for him. The company he is working for has been going through a lot of transition at this facility. It makes for normal transition chaos. That would be okay for him; however, the equipment breaks down multiple times a day. With 12-hour days this can be frustrating and tiring.
Given Joe’s decision to retire, I am using the opportunity
to quit volunteering at the thrift store at the end of February. Having outside
weekly commitments puts a damper on our ability to pick up and go whenever we
want. I like having flexibility. During February and part of March, I also may
be helping Megan and Charlotte with Girl Scout cookie sales. I am looking forward
to the “Cookie Grandma” role!
I am excited to see what the next few months holds for us!
