Lost and Found (Road Trip Day 69)

Not every day is filled with fun on our trip. We look for the moments that make us happy whenever we can.

Yesterday at the end of the WE ARE…Friends gathering, Joe’s car keys were lost. He had made several trips to Anne’s car to load it up and somewhere along the way his own keys fell out of his pocket. Anne searched her car in case Joe’s keys had fallen out while he was loading items into her car. Meanwhile, Joe was retracing his steps in the grassy areas. No luck.  I was able to use MySubaru app to unlock the car and get my keys I had left in the car, so we were able to drive to Anne’s.

This morning we had errands to run and wanted to see about getting a new key fob for Joe. After finding out a new key fob could only be purchased through Subaru at a cost of $250 for the key and $150.00 to program the key, we headed back to the park.

Anne had gone out before us (unbeknownst to us) to do a search and check in with the park office and the concession stand in case someone had turned the keys in. She also tried to retrace Joe’s steps. No success. The universe was feeling generous - Joe found his keys within five minutes of beginning his search. Yes, they were in the grass. Yes, they worked perfectly after laying in damp grass all night.

We have AirTags on order for our key chains. With all the traveling we have been doing (8900 miles as of last Wednesday) and times in and out of our car we have done good at not losing keys.

Tonight, Joe is preparing dinner. The menu includes ground beef tacos, refried beans, guacamole, Pico de Gallo, and tortilla chips. Anne bought ice cream to go with the strawberries purchased at the Amish market on Saturday.

Tomorrow, we head to the Pittsburg area to visit another cousin and her family.
