When I saw this photo I realized my daughter looks like a Karnes!
Packing stuff today in addition to running errands and grocery shopping made for a productive Monday.
When we moved to Minnesota, we did not empty any clothing drawers, the movers wrapped the dressers in plastic. That move was from a one-story house. Everything was then moved into Megan’s finished basement at the end of the journey.
This time the movers will move everything up a flight of stairs to the truck, so they have asked us to make sure the furniture is as light as possible. Quite a few of the heavier pieces will then go up a flight of stairs in the new house. I also have begun packing items that we can live without for the next eighteen days.
To prolong the joy of moving, I am only filling four to five boxes each day until the packing is finished. Which means I will have little to do on the day before we move in. We decided today that we will take our air mattress to our new place on the night of the 19th and sleep on the floor of our new bedroom for three nights. Hey, if we could sleep on the air mattress in our car and a tent over a three-month period, we can sleep in a warm, cozy house for three nights.
We will also take our boxes of kitchen stuff to the house in our car that weekend so we can get our kitchen outfitted. We have never had a dishwasher (except for ourselves); I am looking forward to unpacking our dishes and glassware and running them through the dishwasher. Since everything has been in storage since last March, it all needs washing. I am grateful to not be washing it all by hand!
