Daily Life this Week

With two of my brothers, Jeff and Todd, visiting - I find the day gets away from me fairly easily. Writing is the last thing on my mind when I can be spending time with them.

Joe got up early and went fishing this morning. The last time he fished was thirty years ago on an Ohio pond with Todd. He enjoyed it then and he enjoyed fishing on  Independence Lake today.

Each of the four days of fishing the guys caught their maximum bluegill of 20 fish each. Adding Joe to the mix today meant the came home with sixty-four fish. Sixty bluegill, two crappie, and two walleye.

Tomorrow Jeff and Todd will get in their last day of fishing for this trip and plan to fish for crappie and walleye. They will leave on Monday morning. They are generously leaving some of the bluegill for us.

Last night Megan, Jeremy, and the grandkids came over for a fish fry. Charlotte and Caleb got a new audience for their jokes. My brothers enjoyed their company. Oliver got lots of attention from Grandpa Joe, Uncle Jeff and Uncle Todd.

Megan has not been a fish fan in the past but she tried the deep fried bluegill and found she liked it. Caleb and Charlotte each tried a bite and decided their dad could finish the pieces. I love tat they will try a new food.

Caleb turned eleven last week and last night we noted that he is now taller than me. I stand 5’2”. Charlotte, at nine, is still shorter than me. She pointed out to me that she can now look directly at my eyes without having to tile her head. Give her another year and she’ll probably be taller than me as well.

I’ll be back to writing about our homes tomorrow - I think …
