Oliver and I had a great time together. We sat outside for about ten minutes—it was a bit overcast and chilly. He always watches the trees so intently, and today the wind was really wooshing through them. We mimicked the sound together while watching the leaves move. It’s amazing how focused he gets.
Back inside, he played in a laundry basket filled with small plastic balls. I set it up on the kitchen counter so he could watch while I washed a few dishes. He was content and curious, just the way I like him.
For storytime, we read Teeth Are Not for Biting and Astrophysics for Babies. I even learned a few new things from the astrophysics book! Oliver doesn’t have teeth yet, but we agreed that it’s never too early to plant the seed. He almost always agrees with me when it comes to books and ideas—he’s my kind of kid.
Tummy time was not his favorite today, but I let him fuss through it. When the ten minutes were up, I scooped him up for a little dancing, which instantly made him happy again.
At 7:00 p.m., it was bottle time. He wanted to sit up while drinking it, and I didn’t argue—arguing with a 4-month-and-three-week-old is a losing battle every time. He wins, no question.
Just after he finished and gave one of his signature champion burps, the dogs let us know Megan and Jeremy were home. When Oliver saw them, his whole face lit up. Grandmas are cool... but let’s be honest—mom and dad are even cooler.
