Today’s personal treat was to get a pedicure and manicure. After seventy days of road trip, it felt amazing to pamper myself a bit.
Meanwhile Joe was having fun sharpening knives, scissors,
and yard care tools.
The highlight though was, as usual for me, having
interesting conversations with Denise and her husband, Jorge. Denise and Jorge
met while they were flight attendants. Jorge is still in the field as both an
attendant and a purser on international flights. Denise retired ten years ago
to spend time at home with their son, Michael, who will be a senior in high
school this coming fall.
Once Michael goes off to college, Denise would like to reenter
the workforce, possibly even as a flight attendant again. I know she has been
an extra in one movie and possibly even other movies.
When Michael graduates high school next year he will also be
completing an associate degree at the same time. His ultimate career goal is to
design levels in gaming. Next week he will start an internship at a company
that designs and sells educational games for children. As one can imagine, he
is jazzed! Joe and I both enjoy listening to Michael talk about his passion for
game design.
We went to dinner this evening at a local restaurant, Vevo. We
finished the evening with Gelato and ice cream at a shop down the street from
Vivo.
Then we got home and stayed up late talking. Who knew we had
so much to say! Last night Jorge got home late from his most recent flight to
Europe. Joe and Jorge sat up until 2:10 am or so talking. Joe enjoyed the
conversation. This is Joe Coehlo who normally thinks a late night is 9:00 pm.
A photo of Joe, Michael, and Jorge at dinner this evening.
And a selfie with Denise.
