First They Came ...This is Not Normal

THIS IS NOT NORMAL

It is not normal to send Marines and National Guard troops into American cities where peaceful protests are taking place. That is not the action of a democratic government—it’s the move of a regime afraid of its own people.

It is not normal for a sitting U.S. Senator—Alex Padilla—to be detained after identifying himself at a press conference. And it is beyond normal for Homeland Security to publicly lie about it afterward. That’s not miscommunication. That’s gaslighting.

It is not normal for government officials to threaten judges for doing their constitutional duty. This is authoritarianism dressed in the language of law and order.

Let me be crystal clear: THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

What we’re seeing is not just illegal—it’s morally bankrupt. It’s not about policy differences. It’s about power being used to intimidate, silence, and erase.

I don’t care where you fall on the political spectrum. If you see what’s happening and still justify it, then you are complicit in the moral rot. If you can justify children being taken from classrooms, or citizens being arrested for speaking out, then you’ve lost your compass—and I want nothing to do with you.

There is no defense for state-sponsored cruelty.

So where do we go from here? How do we maintain peaceful resistance in the face of a regime that violates the Constitution and terrorizes our communities?

We do not respond with violence. That is what they want. Instead, we respond with truth. With vigilance. With louder voices. We double down on solidarity. We call out injustice wherever it surfaces.

I am awake.
I am watching.
I will not be silent.
